Blogs And Google Tools Projects Reflection

Week 17 Reflection

Weekly blogs and creating the site for Google tools was on of our projects for this semester. Starting from the weekly blogs which was a wonderful project, we used to write a weekly blog which was normally a reflection about a project, interview, or small research that we did. Doing blogs as a project was a very good idea since it gave us the opportunity to express our opinion through the reflections we usually wrote on our projects, in addition I was able to read my friends blogs and know more about them. For example, what projects they did like most and what they did like least and why. Also I read about some of their daily activities and what they normally do in their vcation. Another important advantage is that it improve our writing skills which we didnt do much this year .

personally Blogs also improved my IT skills since I am able know to change the layouts, settings and many other facilities found at the blogs.

Creating a website that includes a practical usage of Google tools was the second project in this semester. In this project we had to screen shot the Google tools that we used during this semester and write how it was beneficial for us. From my point of view, I think it is very useful project since we learnt several thing and we were able to practice it on our projects during the semester.
Such projects are very important for students since they will be able to learn more than one thing at one project and creating a site with their work is also good thing to add in their CVs.

Working On The Bazaar Bank

Week 16 Reflection "Bazaar Week"

On the 8th, 9th, 10th of December 2009 we had our annual bazaar. They are three days that give the chance for the student to run a small business and give them the chance to practice and sell goods.
This year and since we are HD3 our class held the bazaar bank, we were distributed around the banks and some student were in the main bank where they have the hardest work to do in addition to the longest working hours. For me it was the first time to work at the bank, our main work was to change the original money to daws and we had also to write all the transaction we made in a paper . It was a responsibility to collect the money especially it was a windy day and our both was outside. I was not able to attend the last day because of my sickness. But it was a wonderful experience that I will never forget , I added this volunteer working at the bazaar bank to my CV.

The Method Of Learning By Teaching

Week 15 Reflection

Learning by teaching method is to turn the student to teacher. In this way students will be able to understand the material more than if he or she sets and listen to the teacher. At the beginning of this semester I was not so interested to do my projects by giving lessons such as Google and peer teaching project but know I found that it is the mot suitable way for the students to understand the material in it best way.

when doing the google project my part was to teach the students about what is google language tool. Surprisingly I didn’t know about Google language tool facilities except to translate texts from English to Arabic. And when I made a small survey asking the students how often they use Google language tool, I found that again they only use it only for texts translate.
as soon as i have staeted to prpare for my lesson i was so e

Going back to the topic, I highly agree that learning by teaching is the best way to let the students understand the material. To list some of the advantages for this method:
Student work is more motivated, efficient, since the student will work hard to deliver the material correctly.moreover, students will be able to experience how organize and control the students. Students also will go out of the routine things they normally do, and do completely different work.

Dubai Silicon Interview

Week 14 Reflection

On the 24th of November we interviewed Mrs Khlifa Khalid the senior manager of the finance department at Dubai Silicon Oasis. This interview was for our company profile project, for me it was very useful and interesting project. I didn’t know that Dubai Silicon Oasis is fully in the government sector. DSO was launched in 2004 and it is located in Dubai, it is a free trade zone technology park for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies. The most surprising information I got from this interview is the number of UAE nationals working there and they are 50% from the total number of employees at DSOA which is really a good number. I also found this when I was walking around the finance department most of the workers are nationals and the majority are women. Some of their activities are: comprising office tower, R&D and industrial zone, educational institution, apartment and villas, hotels, health care and a range of lifestyle facilities. Another interesting thing is what they did to overcome the crisis problem and this was by giving less credit period and asking banks to finance their customers. I was also happy to know what the foreign exchange risk is when the company buy or sell from outside the countries and how much they may gain or lose because of the currency exchange.
